I’m thrilled to be attending the Folk Alliance Regional West (or FAR-West) conference this year! Last year was my first time, and it was a thrill. Looking forward to seeing old friends and making lots of new ones, and of course hearing a ton of great original music. It’s an entire weekend of songwriters sharing their craft in concerts, small listening rooms, and impromptu jams, plus workshops, classes, and networking opportunities. That’s October 15-18 in Oakland, but it really kicks off the night before on Wed., Oct 14th with an open mic at the venerable Freight & Salvage in Berkeley.
Besides the open mic, the only other parts of the conference open to the public are the featured artist showcase concerts and the venues’ choice concert. These happen Thurs., Fri, and Sat. nights, October 15-17. (I’ll be in the audience for these, not playing.) Tickets are available here, and you can see the full lineups here.
